    Lily Dahab
my favorite songs, from North to South America

    Orania.Stage

America is a colourful continent, from North to South and so it is its music. From the Great American Songbook to the sensual Latin American compositions. Lily Dahab celebrates well known songs from Pop to Jazz in a frame of a charming breeze of different Latin rhythms.

When the Argentinean singer talks about her roots, she reflects about music open in all directions, that moves and transcends boundaries. Thus, Latin American music influenced "American jazz" at an early stage and this in turn influenced "Latin music”. Lily Dahab, Argentinian singer from Buenos Aires living in Berlin, has already been dubbed "A voice like glowing honey" by critics.

In 2010, she released her debut album "Nomade", which was nominated for the German Record Critics' Award for "Best World Music Album" and the "Echo Jazz". In 2013 she was selected for the project "Initiative Musik" (supported by the German Parlament). And subsequently released her 2nd album "Huellas" (Herzog Records). Like „Huellas“ her new album „Bajo un miso cielo“ was voted "CD of the Week" by MDR and SWR cultural radio stations.

    Johannes Wehrle meets Florian Kolditz
    Tribute to Elliott Smith

    Orania.Stage

When Berlin based pianist, keyboardist and composer Johannes Wehrle fell in love with the music of Elliott Smith at the beginning of the millennium, he was still a teenager. While diving deep into music, studying Jazz Piano in Weimar, touring across Europe with musical groups across all Genres, the compositions of Elliott never stopped fascinating him.

This led to the idea of performing the songs in a different way; by writing instrumental interpretations for a stripped-down duo setting, Johannes Wehrle takes the melodies to the Steinway piano, while Florian Kolditz translates the oscillating guitar pickings to the world of four strings. Together the two go beyond the originals by reharmonizing and improvising, exploring what else is hidden inside the music of the great songwriter.

    Lily Dahab
my favorite songs, from North to South America
